Springfield Sliders breakout star Dick Miller ended the season at the top of the leader board in both Batting Average and Home Runs. Miller ended the 2018 season with a batting average of .373 and 17 home runs, one shy of the Sliders single season record. Miller plays for Towson University, and despite starting the season late with the Sliders, playing in only 47 of the 60 scheduled games, finished five HRs ahead of runner up Cody Klotz of the Quincy Gems.
He also finished 2nd in triples(6), 3rd in doubles(18), and tied for 3rd in RBIs with fellow Slider Adam Lopez of the University Of San Diego with 48. Lopez also swung an impressive bat for the Sliders this season, finishing 4th in both doubles and home runs, with 15 and 10 respectively.
Notable performances on the hill came from Ben Stephens and the only returning Sliders player Alec Harris. Stephens, who will return to Eastern Illinois University, finished fourthe in strikeouts with 59, and 3rd in ERA posting a 2.66 across 47.1 IP. Harris, a Maryvile graduate, wiffed 55 batters on his way to a 2.96 ERA in 51.2 IP
