Sliders Sign Ace from Garden City CC

SPRINGFIELD, IL – May 2, 2008 – Right-handed pitcher Bryce Butt will join the Springfield Sliders in their inaugural season this summer.  Butt is a sophomore at Garden City Community College in Kansas.  The Sliders home opener is June 5^th.

Butt has been a workhorse for the Broncbusters this spring.  He has started 11 games with seven of those being complete games.  He holds a record of 6-4 with an ERA of 2.34.  A native of Omaha, Nebraska, Butt has 62 strikeouts and only 10 walks in 65.1 innings pitched.  As a freshman last spring he tied the school record with 10 saves and made a team-high 24 appearances.  Butt will play for Ohio University as a junior next year.

Butt should feel comfortable in Springfield this summer as one of his college coaches at Garden City CC will be the field manager for the Sliders.  Ryan Sawyers will lead the Sliders in their first season as a member of the Central Illinois Collegiate League.
