SPRINGFIELD, IL – June 13, 2008 – Bryce Shafer settled down after two innings and then settled in to give the Sliders their fourth straight win, 7-3, in front of 2021 fans Friday night.  Shafer struggled a little bit early with the Dragons touching him up for two runs in the 2nd.  DuPage had three straight hits by Dave Reynolds, Jordan Tokarz and Nick Popescu in the top of the inning leading to the first two runs of the game.  After giving up one hit to the Dragons' Kevin Tokarski in the top of the third Shafer only faced 15 DuPage batters through the next five innings.  The Dragons scored one more time in the top of the ninth on a triple by Phil Wunderlich and a double Dave Reynolds to plate the last run for DuPage.

The Sliders' offense came to life in the third with a 2 RBI single to center by Elliot Soto to tie the game up.  Springfield then took the lead for good in the bottom of the next inning on a 2 RBI bases loaded single down the left field line by Creighton freshman Jimmy Swift.  The Sliders added two more the next inning on one hit by Billy Schroeder and plated Matt Lenski in the bottom of the eighth to make it 7 runs for Springfield.
