DuPage Hands Sliders First Home Loss

SPRINGFIELD, IL – June 16, 2008 –  DuPage’s Ryan Copeland was masterful Monday night in a 9-3 road win against the Springfield Sliders. Copeland went six innings, allowed one run and stuck out 12 en route to the win in front of 1,068 fans at Springfield’s Robin Roberts Stadium. 

The Dragons were led offensively by Dave Reynolds, Matt Behren and Nick Popescu who combined for 11 hits and 7 RBI.  Reynolds led the way with five hits while Behren and Popescu both went 3-for-4.  Beheren finished a triple short of the cycle.

 

The Sliders Jason Nantz gave Springfield a chance at a comeback by allowing only three runs in his six innings of relief.  Jimmy Swift led the Sliders with a three-hit performance.

 

Springfield will be at home on Thursday when they host the Dubois County Bombers for the first time this season.  Thursday’s regularly scheduled game will be combined with a postponed game from earlier in the season.  The double-header will begin at 5:30 p.m.  Gates will open at 4:30 p.m. for Thursday’s games which will feature $1 beer and sodas for the entire night.  Ticket prices range from $4.00 for General Admission to $6.50 for Box Seats with a wait staff.
