SPRINGFIELD, IL – July 17, 2008 – The
Dubois County Bombers won 6-5 Thursday night at Springfield
in front of a crowd of 1695. The Sliders struck first in
the 1st with 2 runs on a throwing error and a sacrifice fly
by Denny Vaughn. The Sliders then plated another in the 3rd
on another sacrifice fly by Vaughn. The Bombers answered in
the 4th with three on a Wes Fink double to plate Garrett
Seagraves, and Eddie Cassidy single to score Seagraves and a
RBI single by Jared Baehl. Dubois kept the offence going
scoring two more in the 5th on a two RBI single by Eric
Hanlon. The Sliders came right back with 2 of their own in
the bottom of the inning on a RBI single by Chris Gacom and
a sacrifice fly by Alex Urbas. The Bombers then struck the
final blow plating a run in the 8th to end the scoring.
Chase Joiner picked up his first win of the season and Corey
Maines received his second save for Dubois while
Springfield's Bryce Shaffer took his first loss of the
season in his first relief appearance. Offensively the
Bombers were led by Wes Fink and Garrett Seagraves scoring
two runs each while Eddie Cassidy had two hits. The
Sliders' Bo Kinder had a three hit game and Denny Vaughn
picked up two more RBI.
The Sliders are back in action at home tomorrow against the
Quincy Gems. Game time is 7:05 with the gates opening at
6:05. There will be post-game fireworks presented by United
Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, Local No.
16.
