SPRINGFIELD, IL – August 2, 2008 –
The Springfield Sliders downed
the Danville Dans Saturday 6-3 in Springfield in front of a
crowd of 1933. Springfield received a great outing from
newcomer Ryan Bradley in his second appearance for the
Sliders. Bradley went 5 1/3 innings allowing only 2 runs on
6 Dans hits. Danville also had a very good outing from John
Foley who went 5 innings allowing 3 runs on 6 hits.
The Sliders struck first offensively in the 1st on a RBI
single from Denny Vaughn and a bases loaded walk to Matt
Lenski. Springfield then plated another in the 4th.
Danville struck back in the 5th with one run on a RBI single
by Dan Kaczrowski and again in the 6th with back-to-back
homers by Andrew Pollack and Dabo Worthington. Springfield
then took the lead for good in the 8th on a 2-run scoring
single by Ryan Mooney and an RBI single by Jimmy Swift.
Springfield hosts Dubois tomorrow at 6:05pm with gates
opening at 5:05pm for County Market 'Family Fun Days'.
Monday the Sliders are home again for Illini Night/Dog Days
of Summer. $2.00 Admission to all fans wearing 'Fighting
Illini' apparel. The first 500 fans will receive a free
Doggie Bandanna. Bring your dog to the park! The gates
will open at 6.05 with the first pitch at 7:05.
