August 3, 2008

SPRINGFIELD, IL – August 3, 2008 – The DuBois County Bombers defeated the Springfield Sliders tonight 5-3 in front of 1733 Slider faithful.  The Bombers Michael Burgary threw a gem holding the Sliders scoreless through 8 innings.  The Bombers offense was led by Wes Fink who drove in 2 runs on a sacrifice fly and a solo homerun.  Jared Baehl also added a triple for DuBois.  The Sliders offense finally broke through in the 9th loading the bases with no outs down by 5.  Springfield ended up plating 3 before the final out was made on Jimmy Swift, the would-be winning run, just short of the warning track in center field.
