SPRINGFIELD, IL – August 4, 2008 – The
Danville Dans downed the Springfield Sliders tonight 7-1 at
Springfield in front of a crowd of 1,114. The Dans'
pitching staff of starter Chris Licon and relievers Greg
Houston and Jon Clarence threw well allowing only one
unearned run to the Sliders.
The Dans were led offensively by Dan Kaczrowski who reached
base 3 times scoring 2 runs and Andrew Pollack who reached
base 4 times, scoring twice, and also drove in 2 runs. Matt
Lenski led the Sliders with 2 hits while Vicente Cafaro
added a double and Tyler Choate smashed a triple for
Springfield.
Danville will host Dubois County for a double-header on
Tuesday. First pitch of game one is set for 6:00 CDT.
The Sliders are idle Tuesday and travel to DuBois County on
Wednesday for a 7:30 EDT first pitch. They return to Robin
Roberts Stadium on Friday to host DuPage. This is the final
'Fireworks Friday' presented by United Brotherhood of
Carpenters and Joiners of America, Local No. 16. Also the
first 200 kids, 12 and under, will receive a free children's
book courtesy of Springfield Park District. Game time is
7:05, gates open one hour prior.
