November 27, 2007 - New Team, Logo Unveiled
as Family Entertainment, Baseball Return to Springfield
Entertainment (and baseball) is back at Robin Roberts
Stadium at Lanphier Park! The new Springfield Sliders
Baseball Club announced a new look on and off the field as
the owners (Jesse Bolder and Clark Eckhoff) discussed plans
to begin play in June 2008 with an emphasis on entertaining
fans with fun promotions and between innings games on par
with the best minor league teams in the country.
Locally, General Manager Darren Feller was introduced and
will lead the organization forward both on and off the
field. Feller has a solid mix of minor league baseball
business experience and is excited to share those ideas with
the Springfield community. “Our primary focus is making the
ballpark a fun place to be for everyone, whether they like
baseball or not. We also plan on having a solid team on the
field, so hopefully people will come out and enjoy the
excitement on and off the field.”
Head Coach Dylan Putnam was introduced to lead the Sliders
on the field in 2008. After a playing career that was
highlighted with being drafted by the New York Yankees and
later the Oakland Athletics, Putnam played his college ball
for Tulane University and later at Michigan State. He played
professional baseball in Washington and then left to begin
his coaching career as an assistant coach at Michigan State.
Putnam was then offered the Head Coach position at Oakland
University, a Division 1 program where he enjoyed two
successful seasons.
